I have a BIG disclaimer to make; I am just a regular person without a degree in anything in particular. Except for life, in which at this point, I hold several distinguished degrees. (Ha! that’s a funny one!).
And, as you are about to learn, I am 100% genuine in who I am.
I have a passion for writing about my feelings that, I think, I never adequately expressed when I was younger. I also write with the hope that it may make you laugh, or simply, to leave something of myself to my kids – who are the most important people to me.

I didn’t always listen to my parents, and now they are no longer here to answer all the questions I have. So here I am, ready to sort it all out.
I have no excuse to keep dragging my feet on starting this blog. Everything is true. I worry about the smallest things. It is time to jump in right NOW! God is guiding the way.
Mark Twain said, “The secret to getting ahead is getting started.”
I grew up with two older brothers and very conservative and protective parents. My particular family from the midwest kept everything painfully secret even though there was nothing to hide.

I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am a lover, not a fighter. I love harmony, and I strongly dislike discord. I know you are saying, duh, who wants strife in life? Unfortunately too many people.
It is as simple as the impatient car driver who honks for no reason, the patron at the restaurant who argues with the server over minor things, the person checking into a hotel who is never happy. Oh, and that awful bully no matter the age. It is endless. Those are just a few examples.
You can choose who you want to be no matter the circumstance.
You can be the person who wants to always fight from being happy or you can be the person who goes into a situation with not only a positive attitude but with a solution of ways to turn the unhappy person’s day around. It is an excellent feeling. It is powerful.

Maybe many of the things I want to share are apparent and things you already know. As a young person, lessons needed to knock me over my head for me to indeed “get it” or understand it all. The word “airhead” was an overused adjective to describe me. I chose not to contest it. It came in handy a lot of times.
One day, about 25 years ago, I made a concerted effort to no longer be so outwardly airheaded even though all the insecurities were still there and I am and always have many airheaded days and moments.
I learned from my mistakes. However, a few life lessons, outside of my small town bubble, could have possibly been prevented before I made a bad decision or choice. Constructive criticism is useful if you trust the person telling you ways to be your best.

These are the things I want to explore on this blog. I want to start a conversation of ways to accept your less valuable assets by combining them with the very best things you have to be and feel your extraordinary self.
We are all different. No one is better than the other. It is what makes the world go round. How boring if we were all the same.
Finding your weaknesses makes you stronger.
Let’s do it! It is time to begin this journey together!
Love and Live Who You Are,
– Courtney
