Ready to read a sentence that I thought I would never say or write? Are you sure?
When my three kids were in middle school, I am SOOO HAPPY that I helped them with their homework specifically in English.
It gets even better and nuttier. I think I retained the homework I did with my kids even if they did not (I hope they did, based on the sweat equity it took to help them). I now try to use fancy words in fancy places. I double down when I think of a great word that I can use and hope my writing muscles literally can be seen flexing.
I, unlike some parents, just couldn’t figure out how to take the test for them…Whaaaa-Whawww!
I used to quiz my kids on weekly vocabulary and spelling lists so they could ace their tests and quizzes. I’ll never forget how two little words – “Wordly Wise” – would paralyze me, knock me unconscious, chew me up and spit me out like something I see weekly coming out of my dog’s mouths.
The homework the kids do today gives me more anxiety than the homework I did when I was a kid. I would have to plan my entire social schedule around their tests and quizzes.
The first thing I think about when someone tells me they are having a baby is, oh, the poor dear is going to have to do so much homework with their child for like FOREVER.
Purgatory for at least the next fifteen years. Sorry to break it to you.
I wish I had some magic dust to sprinkle on all the mothers and parents (teachers and all faculty) needing relief from school right now.
However, I may have something better: Summer is a so close I can smell it! You are going to soon be free from school work for the summer break. Yeeee-Haw! Giddy-up! Yippeeee-Ki-Ay-(bleep-bleep)!
THEN…you remember there are summer reading requirements, the schlepp to summer camps, listening to them whine that they are bored (ok, go clean the garage then!).
Before you know it, you are thinking, AHHHHH…it won’t be long until school starts again in the Fall. Hallelujah!

OMG can I totally relate!! Sooo I am reminded of those times when I was reviewing the kids compositions/essay’s and I would say “oh my gosh look at all the misspelled words” and the kids would reply “the teachers don’t care because they have spell check for that” Welcome to the modern day world of the computer age Mom.
Ha ha! Exactly!
Is this a trick to see if I’m reading your blog? I could have used more help on my worldly wiser 😬
You nailed those tests every time. I’m glad you are reading them though! 😆
